The diagnosis

Why the grade isn't moving — even when your child is trying

The problem is almost never the student. It's the system — or the absence of one. After two years of tutoring and achieving top grades in these exact subjects myself, I've identified the three root causes that appear in virtually every underperforming student. Thankfully, all three are fixable.

Problem 01
The problem
The revision method is passive
Passive revision produces almost no long-term retention — recognising information on a page is not the same as retaining it. An issue completely invisible to the student doing it.
Solution 01
The fix
Active recall from session one
I replace passive habits with structured retrieval — teaching students to interrogate their own knowledge, pinpoint the gaps, and rebuild them properly. The result is understanding deep enough to handle questions they've never seen before.
Problem 02
The problem
Revising hard — but revising blind
Without a plan, students revise what they already know. Comfortable topics get repeated. Weak topics get avoided. By the time exams arrive, the gaps that cost marks have never been addressed.
Solution 02
The fix
A personalised timetable built around their gaps
I give your child something most students never have: a revision plan unique to them. Weak areas prioritised, strong topics maintained, all anchored to their exam date. Revision is no longer random but strategic.
Problem 03
The problem
Practising past papers — but not learning from them
Most students do a past paper, check their score, and move on. But the real value is in the marks they lost. Without analysing those errors, the same mistakes repeat paper after paper.
Solution 03
The fix
Every mistake becomes a lesson that sticks
I teach students to treat every lost mark as a diagnosis. We identify the problem. We fix it before moving on. Every mistake is logged, revisited, and resolved. The goal: never make the same mistake twice.
How I work

A system, not just sessions

Most tutors re-teach what school already taught. I start by finding out why the grade isn't moving — then build a plan that fixes it.

The guarantee
At least one full grade improvement in 12 weeks — or I work for free until your child achieves it.
No caveats, no small print. I can only offer this because the system works.
1
Diagnosis — not teaching
The first session is never a lesson. It's an assessment. I find out exactly which topics are weak, how the student currently revises, and where the marks are being lost. Everything else is built on this.
2
Teaching them how to revise
Most students have never been taught how to actually study. I work with each student to build a clear revision process using scientifically backed techniques — active recall, spaced repetition, and retrieval practice — tailored to what works for the way they learn.
3
A structured plan built around their gaps
Once the method is in place, I build a week-by-week revision timetable anchored to the exam date. Weak topics are scheduled most frequently. The student knows exactly what to work on, when, and how — every day between sessions.
4
Exam practice — done properly
Timed past papers, every lost mark logged and revisited. Students learn the examiner's language — not just the content.
5
Regular progress updates to parents
You'll know exactly what we're working on, what's improving, and what needs more attention. No guessing. No opaque sessions. You stay informed throughout.

What parents and students say

These are real words from real families. The grades matter — but the transformation that parents notice most is the confidence.

We've used tutors before, but Muaaz was the first person who actually worked out why my son wasn't improving. Instead of just going through topics, he identified the gaps in his understanding, helped him build a revision plan that suited the way he learns, and taught him how to study effectively. For the first time, revision felt structured instead of overwhelming.

Strategic approach
The biggest difference was that every lesson had a purpose. Muaaz didn't just arrive with a textbook and start teaching. He spent time understanding my daughter's strengths, weaknesses and learning style before creating a clear plan for her. She became much more independent and confident because she finally knew how to revise, not just what to revise.

Independent learner
Muaaz honestly made such a big difference in how I understood Chemistry and Biology. He explained things in a way that actually made sense, and I felt way more confident after every lesson. He was always patient and made sure I really got it before moving on. I used to find science really stressful, but now I actually enjoy it thanks to his support. Would definitely recommend.

I would like to say that Muaaz was extremely thorough in his teaching for my daughter. He helped her understand and taught her through easier methods in a clear and concise way. I would definitely recommend Muaaz.

Clear & concise
"Muaaz isn't just a tutor — he genuinely mentors his students. He took the time to understand what motivated my daughter and explained difficult concepts using examples that actually related to her interests. What we appreciated most was the relationship he built. He regularly checked in, encouraged her when confidence dropped, and genuinely wanted her to succeed. It felt much more like having a mentor invested in her success than simply paying for an hour of tutoring."

Mentor, not just a tutor
"Muaaz is an outstanding tutor. He developed a strong rapport with my son, which created a supportive and relaxed learning environment. His words of encouragement not only boosted my son's confidence but also inspired him to strive for improvement and take pride in his progress."

About

Why I tutor — and why it works

I'm Muaaz Samad — a medical student at one of London's leading medical schools and the founder of Samad Tutoring.

I started this business because I know exactly what these exams take. I achieved top grades at GCSE and A-Level in Biology, Chemistry, and Maths — and I now study Medicine at one of the UK's leading medical schools. I sat these exams recently enough to know exactly what the examiner wants from each answer.

Over two years I've worked with students in exactly the situations you might recognise — children on Grade 3s who needed 7s, 8s, and 9s, children with attention difficulties who'd never found a method that stuck, and children who were revising every evening but whose grades refused to move.

The reason is almost always the same: they didn't have the right system. That's what I provide.

  • Medical student at one of London's leading medical schools
  • A-Level grades: Biology (A), Chemistry (A), Maths (A)
  • GCSE grades: 9s in Biology, Chemistry and Maths — all subjects graded 7–9
  • Over two years of tutoring experience · 10+ students supported
  • Students taken from Grade 3 through to Grade 9

How to get started

A free 15-minute strategy call — no pressure, no commitment

It's a focused 15-minute call. I'll ask about your child's current grade, the subjects they're struggling with, and what they're aiming for. From there I diagnose what's holding them back and we build a strategy to get them to their target grade. By the end you'll know exactly what needs to change — and whether working together is the right fit.

Common questions

Before you enquire

Online only — which means I can work with students anywhere in the UK. Sessions are delivered via video call, fully interactive, and just as effective as in-person. No travel, no commute — just focused, structured sessions wherever your child is.
If your child follows the plan and doesn't improve by at least one full grade in 12 weeks, I continue working with them for free until they do. No caveats. No small print. I only make this offer because I'm confident in the method.
No. The students who improve the most are often the ones who start 10–14 weeks before exams. My 12-week guarantee exists precisely because 12 weeks is enough time to make a real difference — if we use it properly.
I hear this often. Usually the issue is that previous tutors re-taught content in the same way the school did — so nothing changed. My approach is different, and so is the dynamic. I'd rather have a conversation than have you write it off.
Yes. You'll get regular updates on exactly what we're working on, what's improving, and what still needs attention. No guessing, no opaque sessions — you stay informed throughout.
We have a free 15-minute call to talk through your child's situation. If I'm not the right fit, I'll say so honestly. If I am, session one is a full diagnosis — and from there we build the plan.
